Yes, our son is born! On July 8th, at around 11PM, Lourinda gave birth to our son, Traugott Jurg Zwahlen, 23 inches long, 7 lbs 12 oz heavy, and very healthly. And man is this way past due. July 8th?! Eeesh. I’m figuring out how to do photo posts with Wordpress, so we’ll have something up for family soon enough. God bless!

So, what better to update your blog/website with an anouncement that your wife is in her 8 month of pregnancy, and you just moved into a home you just bought (in NH). We are doing wonderfully well, Lourinda is catching her breathe between putting dishes away and making our home look like it’s lived in and not a storage depot (don’t worry, I do all the heavy lifting). I’m getting used to a longer commute, and being able to see the stars again when I go to sleep. Oh, that and a rooster as an alarm clock (no really, we live next to a farm), chickens that debug half our lawn, goats that make us laugh at dinner (and any other time we hear them) and the general peace and serenity that comes from being in a home guided by the love of Christ.
To all of you who keep finding this page, please keep posting replies. If you want to post, let me know, I’ll set you up with a login and writing privileges.
God bless, and as my mother would say, walk in His protection.

Hey all (that is, the crickets and stars) just keeping the page alive. Hopefully I will get some of the music section up this and next weekend, with a photo section by the end of the month. Oh, and we moved! Peace.

So, my cousin Mark posted a rather amusing fishing story on real-time.com regarding a 21″ bass, the movie Napolean Dynamite, and this quote.
Let me just say, I absolutely love my family.

Yesterday, Suave.net went down. My link to e-mail, this website, all that is me on the internet went away. It happens, technology being what it is, so I took it in stride and with very minor annoyance continued to check for new e-mail to no avail. At the time this outage seemed of no significance, just another blip in a life in the information age.
Yesterday, my wife worked through some minor challenge at work, nothing she couldn’t handle, but she called me just to talk it out. I was glad I could give her the support she needed when she needed it. I felt I could add a small emtry into the Book of Excellent Spouses.
Yesterday, I had a quiet memorial for my father, who passed away two years ago to the day. I didn’t need to get emotional as the day was full of the regular business and challenges of life, so a quite prayer of thanks for God taking him home was enough. I was greeted on my arrival at home to Lourinda sneaking up on my in the hallway, and giving me a suprise “attack” of a hug and big smile. Yesterday was full of its regular ups and downs, and was a very good day.
Today, suave.net came back up and the flow of information continued as before. My mom called early, as moms do, just to catch up and to let us know that she had sent e-mails, and to see if all was okay as she didn’t receive a reply. So we talked, and she relayed how her day of memorial went, how the Lord continually gives her something to put her energy into so the sorrow of loss isn’t so acute. It was a good talk, we laughed, and just enjoyed the give and take of communicating. And then she let me go, and I read her e-mail.
Well, I tried to read her e-mail.
It’s funny how memory can be hazy some days, and crystal clear on others. The images that I have stored in my head of that day came into full focus, and the world around me blurred. “I can be emotional now” I thought, now was the right time, and I let go. And my wife came in and wrote another page in The Book of Excellent Spouses, and let me let go. Then I read my mothers letter.
Yesterday, I couldn’t have read this letter. Yesterday was not the time. Yesterday, a quite prayer was enough. It was today, this morning, that God said, “Here, here is an opportunity to work through remembering something at once sad and beautiful.” My mother writes wonderful letters, full of love and meaning, and this was no different. She wrote of the courage it takes to understand what God gave us by bringing dad home, how my fathers life was a lesson in courage.
Thank you Lord, for giving us courage to live through loss.
Thank you mom, for relying on the strength of God.
Thank you to my wife, for doing the same.
And thank you dad, for giving me so much to remember. I’ll see you on Werner’s Run.

So, thanks to Ant and I’m assuming Joe for getting all the initial setup going on this site. Aaaah, the blessings of powerful, computer savvy friends.
Anyway, hopefully I can figure out how to get all this configured and looking like my own thing without bending my mind through pretzel shaped learning curves, but I make no promises.
