I am very well versed in Perl and MySQL and use them on a daily basis. I maintain a personal Linux web/mail server. I consider myself to be an accomplished all around programmer and problem solver.
I enjoy tackling difficult problems others often avoid and am not afraid to delve into legacy code.

Spring 2000 - Present Interactive Data - Senior Programmer
  • Created report editor for product managers to create client report formats
  • Created abstraction layer for presenting complex data from multiple sources transparently and reusably
  • Present occasional in house talks on Perl modules/tech potentially useful to others
  • Implement and manage financial data parsing and storage to drive client reports
  • Created holiday/business hours system to allow tracking/reporting of hundreds of markets across multiple timezones complete with sub-language for defining date events (5th business day for NYSE, etc)
Summer of 1998 - Spring 2000 Mainestreet Communications - Programmer/Assistant Administrator - Mainestreet owns the WWW.Maine.Com domain and hosts online publications and an assortment of web catalogs, based off Linux's Minivend shopping-cart software and MySql SQL databases. I write and update Perl and html code for many of these sites.
Fall 1995 - Spring 1999 Worcester Polytechnic Institute - Workstudy - Worked creating and editing PowerPoint and other files for print, monitored the Graphics Lab, created custom graphics, and authored a WWW auction cgi to sell off old items from the lab.
Winter 1995 Worcester Polytechnic Institute - Workstudy - Worked for a short while in Network Operations troubleshooting LAN connections across campus. Decided to focus time in the Graphics Lab instead.
Summer 1996 Stone's Concessions - Worked a concession stand at various fairs in New England, duties included food preparation and working the counter, selling.
Summer 1995 OSRAM SYLVANIA - Carried project from Waldoboro plant and implemented a similar project at the Hillsboro, NH plant. (see below)
Spring 1993 - Summer 1995 OSRAM SYLVANIA - Pioneered a project to create an interactive multimedia training/reference program using a database software (File Maker Pro) for floor workers in their tungsten filament plant in Waldoboro, ME .
